Weather SMS's

Now from just 5p!!!

The FFSC Weather Station has been sending weather SMS's to club members for the last three years either on demand (SMS Response) or at pre-scheduled times (SMS Broadcast).
Club members that have been receiving these SMS's wouldn't be without them:

"It's great to know what the weather is like at the club for Wednesday night races BEFORE I leave the office."

"The SMSs are invaluable if you live a long way from the club. There is nothing more frustrating than driving to the club only to find that there is no wind."

FFSC Weather Station data is available over your mobile phone via the following invaluable SMS services:

SMS Broadcast

SMS alerts containing weather information will be sent to you at specified times each week (you choose when). Weather information is currently 'broadcast' at the following times:

Day	SMS Broadcast Schedule
Mon - Fri	7:40, 16:40
Sat, Sun	8:10, 12:25, 15:55

SMS Response

With the SMS Response service, you send an SMS to the FFSC weather station and it responds with up-to-the-minute weather information.

The following information will be provided in each SMS:

The time that the weather measurements were taken. The weather station logs statistics every 15 minutes.
Average wind speed (in knots and Beaufort scale)
Peak wind speed (in knots)
Average wind direction (in degrees and points of the compass)
High and low water times (GMT) and heights for Harwich
Credit - the amount of money remaining in your account

An example SMS is given below:

FFSC Weather at 19:15, Wind (Av): 1.4kts (F1), Wind (Gust): 4.3kts, Wind Dir: 278deg (W), L06:10 0.37m, H12:55 3.65m, Credit: 6.60

To subscribe to either the SMS Broadcast or SMS Response services simply complete the form below and I will send you an email by return with further instructions.

SMSs will be charged at the rate of 5p for SMS Broadcasts and 10p for SMS Responses.
